Technology & Combat Characteristics
The AMX-101 Galluss-J was one of the mobile suits developed by Axis Zeon (later renamed Neo Zeon) for its Earth invasion operation. Former Principality of Zeon forces' engineers who joined Axis Zeon were involved in the Galluss-J's development too, and the mobile suit also incorporated the movable frame technology obtained from the Earth Federation Forces. The Galluss-J was designed as a close combat mobile suit capable of mid-to-close range combat, and it inherited concepts from the MS-07 Gouf series, which can be seen in its armaments such as arm punches for surprise attacks in close combat and finger launchers to suppress enemies. Its other armaments are shoulder-mounted missile pods, a beam saber, and a portable energy gun with its own built-in Missile Pod.
The Galluss-J also featured heavy armor, another indication that it was developed for close combat. Despite its heavy equipment, the Galluss-J remained highly maneuverable thanks to the thrusters in its backpack and legs, as well as verniers in its shoulder armor. It was also praised for being easy to operate, and has features for easy maintenance, such as its torso and shoulders being built as separate blocks. In battle, the Galluss-J operated alongside the AMX-102 Zssa, moving in for close combat after the Zssa had bombarded the enemies with missiles. The anti-mobile suit combat capabilities of the Galluss-J were noted to have greatly surpassed that of the AMX-003 Gaza-C, Axis Zeon's former mainstay unit. Although developed for ground battles on Earth, the Galluss-J is fully capable of fighting in space.
History
The prototype of the AMX-101 Galluss-J was developed inside the Endra captained by Mashymre Cello, who used the mobile suit in an attempt to ferret out the refugee AEUG battleship Argama from its hiding place inside Side 1's Shangri-La colony. This prototype model was defeated by Judau Ashta in the MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam. The Galluss-J was later put into mass production during the Neo Zeon War. During the latter days of the war, a number of Galluss-J were a part of Glemy Toto's separatist forces and painted in a gray color scheme.
In U.C. 0096, a Galluss-J was used by Zeon Remnants during the attacks on Dakar and Torrington Base.
