Technology & Combat Characteristics

Modeled after the Earth Federation Forces' mass-produced RMS-117 Galbaldy Beta, the AMX-117L Gaz-L was developed by Neo Zeon as a close combat machine designed for defense purposes. The Gaz-L was distinguished by its eye-catching red-on-white paint scheme and the large, flared armor on its left shoulder. With a higher output reactor compared to the Galbaldy Beta and powerful melee armaments, the Gaz-L is a troublesome enemy at close range. Designed to operate in tandem with its twin, Nee Gylen's AMX-117R Gaz-R, the Gaz-L would typically escort either Haman Karn's AMX-004 Qubeley or Royal Guard leader Chara Soon's AMX-015 Geymalk on its left flank.

History

Neo Zeon's elite Royal Guard squadron, charged with the protection of their leader Haman Karn, operated a handful of customized mobile suits during the First Neo Zeon War. One such unit was the AMX-117L Gaz-L piloted by Royal Guardsman Lance Gylen, which often operated in tandem with the AMX-117R Gazu-R piloted by his twin brother Nee Gylen. Lance used the Gaz-L with great efficiency, but was killed when he used his mobile suit to stop Rakan Dahkaran's AMX-014 Döven Wolf from attacking Royal Guard leader Chara Soon.
