Technology & Combat Characteristics
Following Celestial Being's victory over the Innovades who falsely claimed to be Innovators, the paramilitary organization decided to conduct its armed interventions covertly. This is because armed interventions by the Gundams had taken on a greater meaning and might trigger unwanted military expansion. Thus, Celestial Being now only intervenes when the Earth Sphere Federation government could not manage the situation, and actively uses mobile suits other than Gundams when possible. Deployed exclusively in space, this machine is a modified version of the Union's old space-use SVMS-01AP Union Flag Orbit Package Colony Guard Type, which is also called "Colony Guard Flag". The main feature of the Union Flag Celestial Being Version is that it is equipped with GN Particle-based weaponry.
Since Setsuna F. Seiei and Lockon Stratos are the only Gundam Meisters from the Ptolemaios Team available for armed interventions, the team's mobile suits are thought to be customized for their use. The GN Sword II Kai is a large sword that can also function as a rifle, while the Large Smoke Bombs are for hindering the enemies' vision and communications. However, in the hands of Setsuna, who had evolved into a true Innovator, and with the right tactics, the Union Flag Celestial Being Version proved more than a match for a trio of GN Drive Tau-equipped GNX-609T GN-XIIIs. Like the Colony Guard Flag, the Union Flag Celestial Being Version has three different modes: MS Mode, also known as "Stand Position", and two different MA Modes, "Cruise Position" and "Raptor Position". The Cruise Position is for travelling in space, while the Raptor Position has a similar form as the Cruise Position, but with the feet changing into claws and the legs positioned in front for melee combat. The mobile suit also has a sub-cockpit in the center of its waist, enabling it to recover fellow Gundam Meister when both Meisters are deployed on the same mission.
History
The Middle Eastern delegation arrived in L3 to inspect the colony under construction by the Colony Public Corporation. However, the corporation's representative was uncomfortable with the visit, and had three of the corporation's GNX-609T GN-XIIIs attacked the delegation's space ship. As the GN-XIIIs approached the ship, they were intercepted by beam shots from the CBNGN-003 Union Flag Celestial Being Version piloted by Setsuna F. Seiei. The Union Flag Celestial Being Version then launched all its Large Smoke Bombs, which exploded and shrouded the GN-XIIIs in a large cloud of smoke and GN Particles.
Concealed by the smoke cloud, Setsuna changed the Union Flag Celestial Being Version from "Raptor Position" to "Stand Position" and attacked the first GN-XIII from behind, slicing it in half with the GN Sword II Kai in a high-speed flyby. One of the two remaining GN-XIIIs immediately gave chase, while the other left to destroy the delegation's space ship. After evading the beam shots fired from the pursuing GN-XIII, Setsuna turned the Union Flag Celestial Being Version around to engage the enemy in close combat. With the second GN-XIII defeated, the Union Flag Celestial Being Version quickly caught up to the last GN-XIII, which was firing at the delegation's space ship.
The Union Flag Celestial Being Version bombarded the GN-XIII with a barrage from the 120mm Short Linear Cannons while closing in. The GN-XIII drew its GN Beam Saber for close combat, but Setsuna had his mobile suit dodged the attack and sliced the enemy apart with the GN Sword II Kai. Afterwards, the Union Flag Celestial Being Version changed into "Cruise Position" and flew next to the delegation's space ship to pick up Lockon Stratos. Lockon had infiltrated the ship as a pilot and prevented the assassination of Princess Marina Ismail, who was part of the delegation. After Lockon got into the sub cockpit, the Union Flag Celestial Being Version quickly flew away.
