Technology & Combat Characteristics
The Dessa Type (also Den'an Worker, unofficial name, and Den'an Type ) appears in the Gundam F91 Mobile Suit Variations design series and was designed by Kunio Okawara.
History
The Dessa Type was a mobile suit developed by Buch Aerodynamics, the aircraft and space vehicle division of the Buch Concern. Based on research indicating that greater performance could be achieved by making mobile suits smaller and lighter than the conventional 20-meter class, the first prototype was completed in July U.C. 0108. While it was officially presented to the public as a work mobile suit, it was in fact intended for military use and became the prototype for combat mobile suits of the Den’an series and beyond.
Its most notable feature is the externalization of its nuclear fusion generator, which distributes power to various parts of the body to maintain high output. The head is fitted with goggle-style sensors (commonly called “glasses”), a hybrid sensor system that offers superior composite functions, including distance perception and three-dimensional analysis capabilities for space combat. Although the arms were fitted only with a work torch and simple manipulators, the muscular silhouette was already nearly identical to that of the Den’an Zon. The exterior structure and the placement of attitude control thrusters across the body also made it comparable to a combat mobile suit. At this stage, however, the generator was not an in-house design but was procured from Anaheim Electronics..
