Technology & Combat Characteristics
An enhanced variant of the G-Cannon configured for interception, it was said to be developed by SNRI using the F90 Gundam F90's Type L mission pack as a reference. The G-Cannon Powered Weapon Type has improved combat capabilities due to the mounting of heavy armament on the hardpoints throughout its body. Such a design is because the leaders of the Earth Federation Forces do not think that high mobility alone would be a decisive factor during MS battles. The G-Cannon Powered Weapon Type also has enhanced close air support and anti-air attack capabilities. To support its various firearms, an anti-aircraft control targeting system is installed on the right shoulder and a targeting sensor is installed on the left shoulder. Lastly, additional booster packs have been added to both legs and the various added equipment can be purged when required.
History
It is unknown when the F-71 G-Cannon Powered Weapon Type was developed, but in U.C. 0116, some of its prototype parts such as the leg boosters, right shoulder camera, and backpack antenna unit were installed on Baz Galemson's customized F71 G-Cannon while he was a part of the Earth Federation Forces's Fastest Formula Corps.
