Technology & Combat Characteristics
The GAT-X130 Aile Calamity Gundam is a variation of the GAT-X131 Calamity Gundam, one of the second phase GAT-X series machines developed by the Atlantic Federation. Its development started as part of the "Rebuild 1416 Program", which aimed to create a versatile unit, and three Calamity models with equipment similar to the initial Striker Packs, Aile (Flight), Sword (Melee), and Launcher (Artillery) were planned. At the request of the military, the artillery attack specialized GAT-X131 model was rolled out first. However, this also made it extremely difficult to convert the GAT-X131 into a flight capable machine. As a result, the flight specialized Aile Calamity became the last unit to be completed among the three Calamity machines.
The Aile Calamity was capable of atmospheric flight thanks to the flight module equipped on the left and right sides of the backpack. In addition to various weapons mounted on the flight modules, shoulders, torso, and forearms, it was armed with a handheld composite weapon "Adler", which has four different modes. Although the Aile Calamity took a long time to develop, its aerial combat capabilities surpassed the OMNI Enforcer leadership's expectations. As such, a plan was conceived to develop an IWSP Calamity, with both close combat and long ranged capabilities, based on the Aile Calamity's design. However, despite its high performance, the Aile Calamity was extremely difficult to control. Due to the lack of capable pilots, the Aile Calamity was not mass produced.
