Born from necessity on the battle-scarred fronts of the One Year War, the MS-06V Zaku Tank Cannon Type represents the ingenuity—and desperation—of the Principality of Zeon’s ground forces. As resources dwindled, field engineers began salvaging damaged mobile suits and vehicles, fusing the upper body of a Zaku with the chassis of a Magella Attack tank to create a rugged, hybrid artillery unit. This Cannon Type variant further enhanced the concept by integrating the heavy firepower of the Zaku Cannon’s 180mm artillery system, transforming the already unconventional Zaku Tank into a formidable mid-range support platform capable of delivering devastating bombardments while retaining the versatility of its modular, improvised design
Technology & Combat Characteristics
As the One Year War dragged on, Zeon forces on the Earth found themselves in desperate need of replacement mobile suits and other weaponries. Forced to salvage whatever components they could, field workshops would often disassemble inoperable machines for use as replacement parts and cobble together new units from whatever was available in order to get more combat units to the field. One of the most common variations was the Zaku Tank, a makeshift weapon created from mounting a Zaku torso, head and arms onto the hull of a Magella Attack MBT. The Zaku Tanks were prized by field commanders and they were used for both combat and support duties.
The Zaku Tank Cannon Type is one of the many Zaku Tank variants. Its torso is incorporated with the backpack of MS-06K Zaku Cannon which features a 180mm Cannon for mid-range artillery support. The claw arms can be replaced by normal Zaku II’s arms and manipulators for using MS firearms for ranged attack akin to RX-75 Guntank.
