Technology & Combat Characteristics
The MS-07C-3 Gouf Heavy Arms Type was a mobile suit developed with an aim of improving firepower and armor. In contrast to the MS-07B-3 Gouf Custom which eliminated fixed armament of the MS-07B Gouf for better versatility, the MS-07C-3 Gouf Heavy Arms Type was a further development of MS-07C-1 Gouf Late Modification Type, which strengthened the Gouf's fixed armament, the finger vulcans, in order to improve its combat power. Unlike most machines in the MS-07 Gouf series, the Gouf Heavy Arms Type was more suited for ranged combat rather than melee combat. What set the C-3 Gouf apart from conventional mobile weapons was that it was developed under the concept of an "armored gun with mobility," so a slight decrease in mobility was not a problem. In other words, this unit was deployed not only for anti-armor warfare, but also as an artillery unit with the mission of directly supporting infantry units, preventing enemy attacks, and destroying obstacles, fire points, and other positions on the line of advance.
The finger vulcans on both hands of the Gouf Heavy Arms Type were more powerful versions of those of the C-1 model, featuring 5-barrel 85mm Vulcans that granted it heavier firepower than the B-type Gouf that was equipped with the 5-barrel 75mm Vulcans. For replenishing the vulcan guns' limited ammunition, which was a problem for the B-type Gouf, the weapon's magazine was made replaceable and spare magazines were stored on the side skirt armor. In addition, a single 30mm machine gun was mounted in its forehead along with sensors to improve firing accuracy in order to make the most out of the more powerful finger vulcans. Due to the increased caliber of the vulcans, the C-3 Gouf's manipulators became non-standard size, sacrificing versatility. The Gouf Heavy Arms Type could be equipped with a Gouf shield, but due to its strengthened armor, the shield was not needed. Other unique aspects of the Gouf Heavy Arms Type included smaller spike armor on the shoulders, and a rod-shaped antenna on the left side of the head.
History
During the One Year War, an unknown number of MS-07C-3 Gouf Heavy Arms Types were deployed in Europe and in North America. where it was said to have tormented the Earth Federation Forces with its high firepower and defensive power. During the Battle of Jaburo on November 30, UC 0079, two of the thirteen Gouf-type mobile suits deployed were reported to be experimental Gouf Heavy Arms Type. After the war, it was utilized by guerilla forces. In U.C. 0096, one unit, hidden in the ruins of an apparently European castle, came out of hiding in response to Yonem Kirks' request to attack the Torrington Base, but there was no record of it participating in the battle, implying that it failed to make it in time.
