Technology & Combat Characteristics
Based upon Zeon's tried-and-true MS-09 Dom series, the MS-10 Pezun Dowadge was one of the last mobile suits in the Dom family to be produced during the One Year War. It was a heavily armored, highly mobile assault unit with exceptional firepower. It was designed with multiple large boosters on its back, while its waist and legs were equipped with newly designed medium boosters. These enhancements provided it with high speed and increased mobility in space, but conversely made it more difficult to handle. The hover system allowed it to retain its high mobility both in space and on the ground. It was typically equipped with one of the prototype weapons of the MS-09R Rick Dom, the Ex-T2-2 Beam Bazooka. The Pezun Dowadge's increased generator output also enabled the Scattering Beam Cannon on its chest to inflict significant damage, a vast improvement over the weapon's tepid strength on the Dom, which could only use it to temporarily disrupt enemy sensors and beam sabers.
History
The MS-10 Pezun Dowadge was developed at the asteroid Pezun as part of the secretive Pezun Project. It was a direct successor to the MS-09 Dom. The Pezun Dowadge's relationship with the similarly-named MS-09G Dwadge remains uncertain.
A single Pezun Dowadge with a unique blade antenna was shipped from Pezun to California Base late in the One Year War in order to collect data on the model's effectiveness in ground combat, but it was never deployed. In early December U.C. 0079, it returned to space aboard the Zanzibar-class ship Anastasia. The ship was originally bound for Granada, but just before launch it was given new orders to intercept the 23rd Independent Fleet, which was already in Earth's orbit awaiting resupply before it set out for Solomon. Despite the Pezun Dowadge being an unproven experimental unit, Captain Yaroslav had it equipped for space combat and granted use of it to Major Dianne Neuss, since the only other mobile suit available was a MS-06F Zaku II.
Neuss was confronted by Corporal Chase Skullgard in the RX-80RR Red Rider. During their battle, Neuss had the upper hand thanks to her Newtype abilities and this being the first occasion that Federation forces had encountered a Pezun Dowadge. Nevertheless, Skullgard managed to improvise and detonated a fuel tank in an attempt to destroy Neuss, but she evaded the brunt of the deadly blast at the last moment. The explosion only succeeded in disabling the Pezun Dowadge's Modified Giant Bazooka. After a solar storm swept through the area, throwing the Federation fleet into disarray, Neuss and Skullgard reengaged as the latter charged at the Anastasia. The Red Rider survived a dangerous atmospheric braking technique and then severed the Pezun Dowadge's right arm, which held its Heat Saber, leaving Neuss without any practical weapons. After the Anastasia retreated, Neuss used the Pezun Dowadge to rescue the Red Rider from atmospheric reentry, with the unit's powerful rocket thrusters proving more than sufficient to lift both mobile suits back to a safe orbit. Neuss then returned to the Anastasia.
The Pezun Dowadge was repaired and transferred to the Musai-class ship Roymel after Neuss decided to accompany Major Cyrus to Side 2 so that she could investigate his mysterious Tombstone Project. Later, Neuss used the mobile suit to escape the Roymel and its fleet when Cyrus tried to have her killed and branded her a traitor. She defeated the squadron of MS-09R Rick Doms sent after her, despite the Pezun Dowadge's repaired right arm suffering mechanical failure. Cyrus himself sortied against her in a modified Rick Dom. Their duel ended with the Rick Dom being immobilized and the Pezun Dowadge once again losing its right arm. Knowing that her unit was faster than any ship, Neuss disengaged and proceeded to Side 2 ahead of Cyrus. She later caught up to the 23rd Independent Fleet, which was also bound for Side 2, and was challenged by a squad of four RGM-79 GMs led by Lieutenant Buzz Gant. Deciding to seek asylum with the Federation for the time being, Neuss used her unit's Heat Rod and Scattering Beam Gun to take out the sensors of the GMs, disabling the Federation mobile suits without harming the pilots. She then evacuated her Pezun Dowadge as a gesture of benign intent and surrendered to the Magellan-class ship Zephyrus. Meanwhile, GM pilot Katya regained partial use of her camera and destroyed the empty Pezun Dowadge, enraged that Neuss had bested her so easily.
Like the other mobile suit models developed under the Pezun Project, surviving Pezun Dowadge units were purportedly confiscated by the Earth Federation following the end of the One Year War.
