Technology & Combat Characteristics
Designed to be larger than the Gogg deployed in the One Year War, this Gogg is piloted by Philippe Kaufmann, the leader of the Kaufmann team. In the ONA, the Gogg can bend its legs and unfold the legs' frontal armor into a sled-like form for moving easily over snowy and/or icy terrain. Meanwhile, in the manga, the Gogg can fold its feet down to reduce water resistance when moving underwater, and through the additional bending of the knees, the mobile suit can move at a high speed on the water surface as well as on ice.
While the ONA version has iron nails on both hands that are large enough to crush machines like the RB-79[M] Ball Marine Type, the manga version has heat claws that can easily cut apart sea ice. This mobile suit also has two mega particle guns in its abdomen and can launch frizzy yard from its head.
History
In the Antarctic Circle, Lieutenant Commander Philippe Kaufmann sortied from the Zeon Remnants' Seahorse Squadron's Mad Angler-class submarine K631 in the MSM-03 Gogg alongside multiple MSM-07 Z'Goks to attack the Pegasus-class Spartan's mobile suits. Kaufmann engaged the RX-77AQ Guncannon Aqua piloted by Bianca Carlyle. The Gogg was outmaneuvered in the battle and disabled, but Kaufmann escaped.
Later, when Daryl Lorenz instigated a coup at Zeon Remnant's Dolos underwater base against General Kleiber in order to escape with Claudia Peer and Karla Mitchum to join the South Seas Alliance, Kaufmann used the Gogg to repel Kleiber's forces and allow the defectors to escape. Subsequently, at the Alliance's Taal volcano base, the Gogg, the Z'Gok and the MSM-04 Acguy engaged in a mock battle against an unarmored prototype of the Psycho Zaku Mk-II piloted by Daryl. After the destruction of the volcano base, Kauffmann and Billy Hickam set the Gogg and the remaining Z'Goks to self-destruct as they planned to join their fellow Alliance forces in space.
