Technology & Combat Characteristics
Development of the MSZ-008 ΖII was shelved during First Neo Zeon War as the development of MSZ-010 ZZ Gundam was prioritized, but actual battle data was obtained when the completed prototype was used in the invasion of Axis. Based on this, it was decided to produce a small number of machines, and several improved machines were developed. The V type is one of these machines, and it has improved close combat capabilities with enemy MS in mind.
The ZII V Type was mostly identical to the ZII except that the twin eyes part now covered with a visor, improved arm that able to perform faster reaction time like MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam. Also ZII V Type more heavily armed compared with to the base ZII, such as now using sawed off version of Super Gundam's Long Rifle with shortened Twin Beam Spear derived from GM Striker. The ZII V Type defensive capabilities was also improved by using a heavily modified Zeta Gundam's shield that had a beam cannon and also 2 beam saber integrated inside of the shield. In addition to that ZII Type was given an additional Booster unit know as Bst, therefore it can extend it's operational time.
History
In U.C. 0089 ZII V Type was assigned to a Argama Class Ship the "Yulong", this unit was piloted by Thane Amadio. The ZII V Type served as tip of the spear for Yulong, which was performing very well against the Neo Zeon forces. Despite being piloted by an oldtype the ZII V Type was able to performed on par with Haman Karn's new MS called the Demeter. The ZII V Type becomes the escort unit for newly captured Gundam Over.on.
