Technology & Combat Characteristics
Following the introduction of the [[NRX-044[R] Prototype Asshimar TR-3 [Kehaar] Space Type|NRX-044[R] Prototype Asshimar TR-3 [Kehaar] Space Type]], the Titans further refined the design into the NRX-044 Prototype Asshimar TR-3 [Kehaar], a version built primarily to test the durability of its transformation mechanism under gravity and to develop tactics and operational methods for a new category of weapon: the “flying transformable mobile armor.” In this configuration, the lower body was replaced with leg-mounted walking units equipped with new prototype thermonuclear engines, giving it far greater thrust than the later production model. (For space use, the heel nozzles could be removed and replaced with Sturm Boosters.) The addition of arm armor and a backpack similar to those of the production Asshimar gives it a similar appearance; however, it also incorporates various improvements and reinforcements derived from the finalized Asshimar’s development data, which had already been tested.
It is equipped with a “skirt unit” on the waist that serves as an auxiliary propulsion system for vertical launches, while fixed wings mounted on the sides provide stability and attitude control during flight. The shins are fitted with prototype reinforced units housing built-in generators common to the TR series. Additional armor has been added to the chest, with the left side mounting a Scattering Beam Cannon similar to that of the MS-09 Dom. Its beam rifle features a deployable cover at the rear of the barrel, allowing it to generate a beam blade that can function as a scythe or axe—serving as a prototype for the Fedayeen Rifle later adopted by the Gabthley. It also served as a test escort for the Gundam TR-6 [Inle], with its development data later incorporated into the Icarus Unit of the Gundam TR-1 [Hazel Custom] and the Rosette Enhanced Ground Form, before ultimately being finalized as the Gundam TR-6 [Kehaar II].
History
After being remodeled for gravity operation at Khartoum Base, the Prototype Asshimar TR-3 [Kehaar] was stationed there for testing. During trials of its thermonuclear jet engines in MS mode, Eliard Hunter encountered an unidentified Gouf Flight Type and a Gouf Custom mounted on a Dodai II. With support from Carl’s TR-4 [Dandelion], which had just entered the atmosphere, he managed to drive them off. Later, on the return to base, the unit was pursued by two Gouf Customs on Dodai Kai craft but successfully defeated them. All test objectives were completed within the same month, after which the unit was returned to space. However, it was never reassigned to the Titans Test Team, and its subsequent whereabouts remain unknown.
