Technology & Combat Characteristics
The RGM-109-M5 Heavygun is a modified version of the Earth Federation's RGM-109 Heavygun. It has a slight reduction in height and weight, and is equipped with a more powerful reactor. It also had a reduced number of vernier thrusters, but it retained the same number of main rocket thrusters and they have been upgraded to provide higher thrust. Although these modifications improved its basic performance, it is still an outdated machine in U.C. 0150s, and lacked the beam shield commonly used by mobile suits of the era. It was even older than the RGM-119 Jamesgun, which was already obsolete at the time, and was no match against the more advanced mobile suits made by BESPA.
History
The RGM-109-M5 Heavygun was operated by the Macedonia colony, one of the independent nations of Side 2, for its own defense. In U.C. 0153, when the Zanscare Empire began its militarist expansion, the outdated Heavygun was shown to be outperformed by the Zanscare Empire's mobile suits that were superior to even the Earth Federation Forces'. Still, the Macedonia colony attempted to resist with their mobile suit forces but it proved futile. The Neo Texas colony in Side 5 also deployed their own modified version of the machine.
