Technology & Combat Characteristics
At the time of Char's Rebellion, Captain Amuro Ray's idea was to create a Psycommu weapon with integrated offense and defense, the "Fin Funnel", by combining it with the Psycho-Frame. Satisfactory combat results were observed due to the increased Newtype ability when combined with the Psycho-Frame, but Fin Funnel's data for the development of Psycommu weapons was insufficient. Therefore, before adopting it in the RX-94 Mass-Produced ν Gundam, this RGM-89NT-1 Roswell Jegan was produced in advance for the purpose of drafting a practical plan and collecting data.
The highly versatile RGM-89 Jegan A-type was adopted as the base unit, and a part of the cockpit block was also equipped with a Psycho-Frame. In practical tests, it did not achieve the results of the Fin Funnel witnessed during Char's Rebellion, but it surpassed the results of conventional Psycommu weapons, and also succeeded in deploying the I-Field Barrier, which was thought to be accidental. This test data greatly advanced AE's research, leading to the I-Field Shield.
