Technology & Combat Characteristics
The RX-106M Marine Hizack was developed as an underwater variant of the Hizack, but because the Earth Federation Forces were reluctant to deploy mobile suits in underwater environments, only a few prototypes were produced. The Titans, however, adopted a different stance. With an organizational philosophy centered on acting as the “protectors of the Earth Sphere,” they prioritized creating mobile suits capable of responding to any situation—including underwater combat.
Under the “TR Plan,” a development plan aimed at producing highly versatile mobile suits, the Titans advanced the design and testing of reinforced equipment for underwater use. The Aqua Hizack was one such prototype tested by the T3 Unit, representing one of several experimental configurations. This form was based on a Marine Hizack transferred from the Federation Forces and equipped with the underwater G-Parts “Aqua Hambrabi II.” Docking is handled through the Hambrabi II’s sub-arms, enabling on-site combination and separation.
The Aqua Hambrabi II itself is a general-purpose underwater reinforcement equipment that can be fitted not only to the Aqua Hizack, but also to other Titans-produced machines such as the Marasai and Barzam, as well as various Federation-built mobile suits. Once equipped, the modified unit’s performance profile shifts to one optimized specifically for underwater combat.
History
Due to these circumstances, the Marine Hizack was never fully deployed during the Gryps Conflict. However, after the war, the machine’s design data—brought to Mars by the Titans remnants—was adopted by ReZeon’s forces. Since ReZeon had already deployed large numbers of Hizacks, they were able to refit them into ReZeon-spec Marine Hizacks (model number ARZ-106HZM) and assign them to patrol units monitoring the area around the Inle Underground Glacier Base.
On its own, the Marine Hizack’s performance is considered second-rate, but in emergencies it can dock with the Aqua Hambrabi II, which greatly enhances its underwater combat capabilities. In this configuration, it functions as the Aqua Hizack, raising its performance to that of a first-rate underwater mobile suit. Because the conversion required only simple modifications and allowed for mass deployment, the unit was judged more than sufficient for patrol duties.
Furthermore, the Aqua Barzam—a combined form of the Aqua Hambrabi II and the Barzam—was also deployed at the Inle Base. It is outfitted with two underwater shield boosters mounted on either side, giving it exceptionally high mobility. In contrast, the Aqua Hizack is equipped with only one shield booster, a configuration that clearly prioritizes stability. This difference also reflects the expected skill level of their pilots: the Barzam is assigned to special forces elites, while the Marine Hizack is operated by regular soldiers. ReZeon designated this machine as the ARZ-106HZM-2, and it features the organization’s symbolic red color scheme.
