Although the Titans were annihilated following their defeat in the Gryps Conflict, many of their mobile weapons, production facilities, and operational records remained. Among these remnants was the asteroid space station SSD (Star Ship Down), a secret base under construction in Earth orbit intended for TR Project operations. The Earth Federation Forces also recovered numerous mobile suits, some of which were put into active service. One such machine was the Barzam, for which an AEUG-modified version also existed.
It was later officially adopted by the Earth Federation Forces, but at the time, it was modified to ensure compatibility with the Jegan, with its distinctive features—such as the goggle-type head sensor—still visible in various areas. Despite being a high-performance unit, these changes were reportedly made in response to reluctance among field personnel to use mobile weapons developed by the Titans. The diagram depicts a Barzam corresponding to the Barzam [SSD Experimental Specification], a captured and modified unit equipped with an additional Hrair Unit, intended for use in SSD atmospheric descent operation experiments.
