Technology & Combat Characteristics
The Celestial Being defeated the Innovades who falsely claimed to be Innovators, but it was a narrow victory that heavily drained the funds and resources of the paramilitary organization. Despite this, the organization initiated development of new Gundams to replace those that were heavily damaged during the final battle. However, completing the 00 Qan[T] required a large amount of time, so refurbishment of the 00 Gundam using left over parts and equipment proceeded simultaneously to meet Setsuna's need for a substitute mobile suit during this period.
The 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G has improved basic performance, and two unique features that distinguished it from the 00 Gundam Seven Sword. The other unique feature is the GN Sword II Blaster, a new composite weapon designed for an Innovator and with a focus on functioning as a gun rather than a sword. The "/G" in the name "00 Gundam Seven Sword/G" stands for "Gun" and is a reference to this new weapon. Thus, alternatives to the two GN Drives were tested, such as a GN Drive plus a large GN Condenser, and two large GN Condensers. The 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G could operate using both aforementioned methods, but they failed to reproduce the Twin Drive System, and the amount of GN Particles is limited as the GN Condenser is unable to produce these particles like a GN Drive. Fortunately, 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G has the ability to fight while minimizing particle consumption as it is mainly armed with melee weapons, and this resulted in it being prioritized for testing over other substitute mobile suits for Setsuna. Furthermore, the GN Sword II Blaster enabled it to handle combat situations where melee weapons are inadequate. While the Trans-Am System was unusable when 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G was equipped with the GN Drive plus large GN Condenser, the two large GN Condensers configuration was able to activate Trans-Am, but only for 0.03 seconds.
Valuable data was gathered by 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G through its various tests and utilized in 00 Qan[T]'s development. Computer simulations were also conducted using the quantum processing system Veda to enhance the performance of 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G, leading to the GN-0000GNHW/7SGD2 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G Inspection that only existed in data form. Celestial Being eventually developed improved version of the large GN Condenser that could reproduce the Twin Drive System when paired, and utilize the Trans-Am System properly, but duration of the Trans-Am Mode is still shorter compared to when equipped with the two GN Drives. Even so, 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G was never deployed in actual combat, except for accidental battle during testing. This was because Celestial Being avoided conspicuous armed interventions with the Gundams. Additionally, as an Innovator, Setsuna prefers non-violent interactions, such as dialogues, putting 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G at a disadvantage. This was why Setsuna sortied in the GN-0000RE+GNR-010 00 Raiser GN Condenser Type during the ELS conflict.
History
Through her monitor, Sherilyn Hyde watched with excitement as the mobile suit she helped developed, the GN-0000GNHW/7SG 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G, activated and then flew around in space. On the other hand, Ian Vashti noted disappointingly that the Twin Drive System would only work when its two power sources are identical. Currently, 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G was equipped with a GN Drive taken from another Gundam and a large GN Condenser. Despite the Twin Drive System being inoperable, as long as the mobile suit could move, it would serve as a deterrent to the world to a certain extent.
The 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G then began the performance test of its new weapon. As a comparison, Ian had Setsuna F. Seiei fired the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G's GN Sword II Long first. After confirming the target was destroyed, Ian ordered Setsuna to switch to the new weapon – the GN Sword II Blaster, and the atmosphere immediately became tensed. Just as Setsuna was getting ready to fire the GN Sword II Blaster, he noticed an enemy unit and immediately reported it. But his voice was too soft, so Sherilyn and Ian initially could not decipher what he said. Setsuna then informed them the enemy might have seen the earlier beam shot, so he would be going ahead to destroy it.
Encountering an enemy in this space region was unusual, and although the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G was still imperfect, Ian and Sherilyn had no other choice than to trust Setsuna. Setsuna fired the GN Sword II Blaster at the approaching GNX-609T GN-XIII and hit it twice. Based on its red color scheme, this GN-XIII was likely a machine from the disbanded A-Laws. Its pilot seemed to be one of the A-Laws' members that disobeyed the Earth Sphere Federation's disbandment orders and went rogue. The two mobile suits got closer and the battle quickly ended in victory for the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G.
Testing of the weapon in actual combat was unexpected, but GN Sword II Blaster demonstrated adequate performance. However, it did not perform as well as it should have, and Ian gloomily remarked that they needed the Twin Drive System after all. Ian understood that he should not be fixated on something he did not have, but as a mechanic, he could not tolerate an equipment underperforming. Unlike previous weapons, the GN Sword II Blaster was tuned to match Setsuna's abilities as an Innovator, and has infinite possibilities when operating at full power. Overall, the weapon was usable in combat, but Ian also felt the need to quicken development of the new Gundams.
In an empty space region outside of the Lagrange Points, the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G pushed itself out of a transport ship and slowly made its way to the test location without using any verniers. The 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G was a substitute machine for Setsuna until his new GNT-0000 00 Qan[T] was completed, but it was not the only substitute machine, restoration of the GN-0000+GNR-010 00 Raiser was also underway. However, GN Particle consumption issues caused by the use of a GN Drive plus a large GN Condenser, or two large GN Condensers, to replace the lost GN Drives resulted in testing of 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G being prioritized. This was because it was capable of fighting while minimizing particle consumption due to melee weapons making the bulk of its weaponry. The 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G was now equipped with two large GN Condensers to test whether the Trans-Am System could be activated using this setup.
As the test involved the emission of intense lights and huge amount of GN Particles, enemy forces would easily detect it. So, the test would only be conducted once and limited to 5 seconds to reduce the risk of detection. Ian had another unspoken concern. After the battle with the Innovades who falsely claimed to be Innovators, a small number of people around the world seemed to have awakened as true Innovators, much like Setsuna. Their existence had yet to be confirmed, but if they did exist, there was a possibility they could detect regardless of distance the special state of GN Particles, like in Trans-Am. There were still many unknowns regarding Innovators, and Ian thought it was better to assume all possibilities. Since the Earth Sphere Federation Forces' mobile suits were now capable of using Trans-Am as well, the use of Trans-Am here might be mistaken as the ESFF's even when detected, but Ian felt it was unwise to rely solely on luck.
This test also served to discover the power of the new GN Sword II Blaster during Trans-Am Mode. A small asteroid placed over 1,000 km away served as the target. Theoretically, the weapon could shoot further, but if it hit the test target, there should not be any issue during actual combat. Setsuna activated Trans-Am, but it lasted only 0.03 seconds. Ian remarked that it was simply impossible with the large GN Condensers, and noted that under the same condition, the restored 00 Raiser equipped with large GN Condensers would have lasted longer. He wondered if this was a compatibility issue. He then checked the test results, and was shocked that Setsuna had fired the GN Sword II Blaster and destroyed the target within the 0.03 seconds Trans-Am. Ian was surprised by the abilities of an Innovator, and concluded that development of 00 Qan[T] must be sped up as that is the only machine worthy of Setsuna.
Sherilyn was glad the two GN Drives for the new 00 Qan[T] were produced successfully, but she was also slightly upset. If the 00 Qan[T] was completed, her work to improve the capabilities of the GN Condenser to be closer to those of the GN Drive would become less critical. While GN Condenser cannot produce GN Particles like the GN Drive, it is theoretically possible to enhance the performance of the GN Condenser to match that of the GN Drive when used as a mobile suit's power source. Sherilyn had succeeded in enabling the GN Condenser to activate the Trans-Am System for a very limited amount of time. Her current aim was to reproduce the Twin Drive System using two GN Condensers, or more accurately, to create a Twin Condenser System. Her research was progressing well, and although it was not combat ready, its practical deployment was within reach.
Sherilyn downloaded the data of a mobile suit used in simulation: the GN-0000GNHW/7SGD2 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G Inspection. This machine was created by Sherilyn to re-inspect the data of the actual 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G, and it existed only in data form. The 00 Seven Sword/G Inspection had a red color scheme and Sherilyn increased its basic performance by 5% compared to the original. She felt that she could raise it further if she continued her research. At times, she found that it displayed performances that exceeded its data. She then pitted the 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G Inspection against the GN-006 Cherudim Gundam, GN-007 Arios Gundam, GN-008 Seravee Gundam and GN-009 Seraphim Gundam, and it emerged victorious. Sherilyn believed that data from this machine would be useful in the future. With Celestial Being unable to mass produce GN Drive, research into improving the performance of the GN Condenser is necessary.
