The Heavygun II is an improvement RGM-109 Heavygun by Anaheim Electronics (AE) after its poor reception by the Earth Federation Forces. While its basic design mostly the same as its predecessor, it was equipped with higher generator output, and better armor material. Despite the improvements, it was considered a failure, due to the introduction of Strategic Naval Research Institute's Formula Project and F90 Gundam F90 as the flagship of their next generation mobile suit (MS) model. Although its not adopted by the Earth Federation, the Heavygun II was not abandoned and AE still used it as testbed for their own next generation MS model, by incorporating data from F70 Cannon Gundam, which resulted the RGM-111Y Proto Hardygun as the competitor model for SNRI's F80 Gunraid.
