Technology & Combat Characteristics
The Earth Federation Forces decided to change a few optional parts of the RGM-79CR GM Kai High Mobility Type to convert it into a sniper-type unit: the RGM-79SR GM Sniper III. The GM Sniper III is equipped with a long-range beam rifle and a visor which contains high-performance optical targeting equipment. The GM Sniper III's sensors, thrusters, and other systems were upgraded to match the specifications of the GM II, with an additional drop-down visor reminiscent of the RGM-79SP GM Sniper II mounted on the head for additional sensor range and precision targeting. At least one GM Sniper III was built, which was assigned to the Titans Test Team. This machine would then serve as a testbed for a variety of weapons and equipment that would later be used in future machines.
History
Little is known about the GM Sniper III, other than the fact that it was primarily used for to test the prototypes weapons and equipment of the next generation of mobile suits. This mobile suit would perform preliminary tests of long ranged weapons and thrust systems, such as the beam rifle that would later be used by the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II, and the beam launcher and backpack configuration that the RMS-106CS Hizack Custom would later use. Due to the mobile suit's purpose as a test machine, the GM Sniper III likely never saw combat, and was likely relegated to backline duties outside of testing.
