Technology & Combat Characteristics
After the Earth Federation Forces decided to formally adopt the RMS-179 GM II as their next-generation mobile suit, the RGM-79CR GM Type C High Mobility Type was created as a test evaluation machine to investigate whether the Titans should adopt it as well. Using the RGM-79C GM Type C as a base, various systems were upgraded to match the specifications of the GM II. A wraparound pod is mounted on the head, sporting a pair of additional sensors on each side of the head, as well as a more powerful antenna on the left side for more powerful communications capabilities. The GM Kai High Mobility Type's backpack contains improved thruster output and a high-performance aft sensor. A radiator duct has been added to the right side of its chest, and another sub-sensor to the left side. The generators in its legs have also been improved, and additional vernier thrusters installed in its calves. Despite these upgrades being standard for the GM II, the slightly lighter mass of the GM Type C allowed these upgrades to improve its thrust to mass ratio, strengthening the mobile suit's top speed and mobility.
History
The GM Type C High Mobility Type served as one of the earliest test machines of the Titans Test Team. It is unknown how many were built, though they would see a handful of variations designed to test different equipment, such as the RGM-79EW EWAC GM for early warning and reconnaissance, and the RGM-79SR GM Sniper III for more powerful weapons and equipment. Due to their role as test machines, it's unlikely that these modified GMs ever saw combat.
