Technology & Combat Characteristics
The RX-160S-2 Byarlant Custom 02 is the second Byarlant Custom developed in Torrington Base as a composite "creature" (Chimera) of Titans mobile suits. It is considered the perfected version, unlike the first unit, the RX-160S Byarlant Custom, which is a modification validation unit. Like the Byarlant Custom, the Byarlant Custom 02 was built from a surviving unit of the RX-160 Byarlant, but featured further modifications such as back-mounted movable binders equipped with integrated beam cannons, thrusters and fuel tanks, normal MS hands to hold portable weapons, and slight changes to the feet design.
The Byarlant Custom 02 is also equipped with two long beam rifles on its forearms that can emit beam sabers, making them usable for both ranged or melee combat. The pair of Aero Armor on top of the long beam rifles are shields that can be used to reduce air resistance when held in front of the mobile suit during high-speed flight. As an option, the Byarlant Custom 02 can attach the booster used by the ORX-005 Gaplant to its rear skirt thruster, and this not only increase the mobile suit's thrust but also allows it to reach the higher stratum of the atmosphere under its own power.
History
The Byarlant Custom 02, piloted by Federation pilot Bier Quatrieme, was deployed alongside the RX-160S Byarlant Custom. Together, they battled against mobile suits operated by pirates, and ended up assisting Zeon remnants who were being attacked by the pirates.
The Byarlant Custom 02 was constructed in Torrington Base and later transferred to the Ra Cailum, where it was assigned to Londo Bell's pilot Riddhe Marcenas. Riddhe used it during the events of manga version of the OVA's episode 5.
