Technology & Combat Characteristics
The Warlock is a prototype Gundam used in a conflict known as the Second Lunar War, being completed after the XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero and before the five Gundams used in Operation Meteor. After the war, it was dismantled and stored in a Winner family resource satellite. Decades later in Mars Century 0022, the Warlock’s remains were discovered by the Preventer and Instructor W was tasked to reconstruct it for Operation Mythos.
The Warlock specializes in covert operations and melee combat, performing attacks using its beam scythes, nanomachines, and immense speed—fast enough to leave afterimages. In addition, the Warlock can transform into a quadruped mobile armor called Fenrir Mode, further boosting its mobility and ranged arsenal.
History
The Gundam Warlock was one of four prototype mobile suits created by the five Gundam Scientists that saw use in the Second Lunar War; in After Colony 190, its pilots were the original Duo Maxwell and Long Meilan. At some point after the Second Lunar War, it was dismantled and stored along with the other prototype Gundams in a hangar on a resource satellite owned by the Winner family.
In M.C 0022, the prototype Gundams were rediscovered by the Preventers and are tasked to Instructor W and Doktor T to be restored for Operation Mythos. As the Shawhook II and Warlock progressively take out more of the Merciless Fairies, Katherine in the Prometheus joins the fight and overpowers the Warlock, blasting it into the nearby Elysium Sea with a homing missile. The Warlock is temporarily trapped in the waters due to their strong currents, but is retrieved following the Prometheus being disabled by Instructor W in the Snow White.
During the battle to capture the Prometheus, a ship with Heero and other Preventers on board is hacked and seized by the Martian Federation. After the Warlock is pulled out of the sea, Duo decides not to cooperate with a plan to rescue the captured Preventers and is subsequently attacked by the Snow White’s Sieben Zwerg Schwarz, being flung into Elysium Island. Trowa Phobos in the Gundam Scheherazade then engages the Warlock, severing its right wrist with one of its jambiyas. Duo tries to flee but is unable to escape the Snow White and Scheherazade, deciding to surrender due to exhaustion. The Warlock is repaired and Duo pilots it alongside Instructor W, Trowa, Katherine, Naina, and Millie Peacecraft to combat a Virgo landing force from the Lanagreene Republic. Following the battle, Instructor W surrenders the group to the Martian Federation, with all of them heading to Relena City to rescue the captured Preventers.
When the Lanagreene Republic mobilizes a Virgo formation from their mobile fortress Babel, Duo in the Warlock engages the mobile dolls with assistance from his captors, then rendezvousing with the Grand Chariot battleship. The Grand Chariot makes its way to Babel to perform a rescue operation for Relena Peacecraft and encounters a black Wing Gundam Zero piloted by a clone of Vingt Khushrenada.
After Vingt inflicts serious losses to the rescue party, they are forced to escape, with the Warlock serving as an escort for a ship called the Voyage. Duo transforms the Warlock into Fenrir Mode and Kathrine manages to board the unit; they both ambush the black Wing Zero as it heads to sink the Voyage. The Fenrir struggles as it’s progressively damaged throughout the fight, but the black Wing Zero is defeated when Katherine jumps into its cockpit and activates its self-destruct sequence. After the black Wing Zero detonates, Duo ejects from the Fenrir due to the damage it sustained and its battered frame is caught by the Tallgeese Heaven.
In a final assault against Babel, the Warlock along with other allies aids in destroying several mobile dolls in its Fenrir Mode as Heero in the Snow White tries to disable the mobile fortress.
